Identity Movie Review: A Twisty Thriller That Keeps You Guessing

Identity Movie Review

Identity Movie Story: Haran Shankar, a skilled sketch artist, is called by the police to draw a portrait of a suspected murderer. However, the sketch he creates only adds more confusion to the case.

Identity Movie Review: Some movies are fun to watch without much thought, but Identity is the opposite. This film demands your full attention to keep up with its many twists and turns.

Tovino Thomas shines as Haran Shankar, a multi-talented but eccentric introvert. He is brought in by Karnataka police officer CI Allen Joseph (played by Vinay Rai) to assist with a murder investigation. Trisha plays Alisha, a witness to the crime, who helps Haran create a sketch of the suspect. But the result of the sketch leads to a shocking revelation.

Tovino fits perfectly into his quirky role, making it hard to imagine anyone else playing the part. Vinay Rai brings style and depth to his character. Trisha, along with Aju Varghese and Vishak Nair, deliver solid performances. However, Arjun Radhakrishnan’s talent feels underutilized in a very small role.

The action scenes, especially the climactic fight on a flight, stand out, thanks to stunt director Yannick Ben. One of the highlights is a woman fighter who is portrayed with strength and skill, without any stereotypical jokes about her gender. It’s a refreshing and well-executed sequence.

The film’s premise, focusing on identity and revenge, is unique and intriguing. While the initial twists are exciting, the writer-directors Akhil Paul and Anas Khan (known for Forensic) try to pack in too many over-the-top twists. This results in a loss of connection with the characters, which is the movie’s biggest drawback. Despite this, the film is well-made, with excellent cinematography by Akhil George and precise editing by Chaman Chakko.
