Seesaw Movie Review: A Missed Shot at a Gripping Mystery

Seesaw Movie Review

Seesaw Movie Review : It’s easy to think Kollywood has run out of fresh murder mystery ideas, but Seesaw proves otherwise—though not in a good way. The movie stumbles into familiar territory, offering a predictable whodunit filled with overused tropes. We meet a police inspector tasked with solving a poorly explained murder, surrounded by unhelpful witnesses who conveniently withhold crucial information. Meanwhile, the protagonist, Aadhavan (Nishanth Russo), makes a flashy, out-of-place entrance with a song and dance number, setting the tone for the disjointed story that follows.

The plot unfolds through witness testimonies to Inspector Mugilan (Natty), but the slow pacing and choppy editing make it hard to stay engaged. Scenes feel disconnected, and the storytelling lacks rhythm or flow, leaving viewers detached from the mystery.

Aadhavan is introduced as a bright student who struggles with bipolar disorder following his father’s death. However, his portrayal leans heavily on violent manic behavior, raising the question of why his family didn’t commit him to a secure institution earlier. If they had, the movie’s central conflict would have disappeared entirely. His role feels more like a plot device than a meaningful character. Conveniently, he has a friend who’s an embalmer, just when the story needs it. Dr. Senthilvelan’s pompous and meme-worthy dialogue doesn’t help matters.

The film’s musical numbers are unnecessary and add no value. That said, Nataraj delivers a solid performance as a police officer, a role he’s excelled at in other films. His strong presence, deep voice, and intense gaze suit the part. Nishanth Russo does a decent job portraying Aadhavan’s mental instability, while Padine Kumar plays his wife well enough, mainly serving as a trigger for his fluctuating behavior.

In the end, Seesaw fails to live up to its promise of thrills. It’s a forgettable entry in the murder mystery genre, offering nothing new or exciting—a swing and a miss.
